Periodontology is the dental field concerned with the supporting structures of the teeth — the gums, bone and attachment tissues. Its goal is to prevent, detect and treat gum diseases (gingivitis, periodontitis) so your teeth stay stable and healthy.

Common signs include gums that bleed when brushing, red or swollen gums, persistent bad breath, receding gums, sensitive tooth necks or loosening teeth. If you notice any of these, it is worth booking an examination soon — early treatment is much simpler.

Most treatments are carried out gently under local anaesthesia, so you do not feel pain during the procedure. Some temporary sensitivity afterwards is possible, for which we provide guidance and, if needed, suitable pain relief.

In general, one to two check-ups and professional cleanings per year are recommended. If you are being treated for gum disease or are at higher risk, more frequent maintenance (recall) visits may be needed — we tailor the schedule to your condition.
